Paddle construction guide

Read beyond
the material label.

A paddle is an interacting system of face, core, geometry, handle, bonding, finish and manufacturing choices. One marketing term cannot predict the result.

01

Face system

Carbon fiber, fiberglass and composite labels describe only part of a paddle. Layup, resin, finish and bonding also affect the finished system.

02

Core & thickness

Polymer honeycomb structure, cell geometry, density, thickness and bonding can influence feel, sound, stability and failure risk.

03

Shape & balance

Standard, elongated and hybrid shapes interact with overall dimensions, finished weight, balance and handle length.

04

Handle & grip

Grip length, circumference, handle construction, cap and wrap should be evaluated together.

05

Surface & identification

Texture, finish and graphics should not be confused with verified performance. Permanent brand and model identification supports record matching.

06

Approval records

A database listing supports discovery but does not replace the governing body’s live eligibility record.
